The story of D.A.I.S.Y

Hello, and welcome to the story behind D.A.I.S.Y©

The daisy has been a meaningful emblem all my life - a simple five petal flower that I doodle.

I have a fond memory of my father explaining how the daisy got its name. “It opens with the light and closes in the dark” he told me.

This has remained with me as an analogy for how all living things, including people, respond to the light and dark.

D.A.I.S.Y © arrived as a ‘download’ into my awareness one day as I drove along minding my own business!

As the pillars of D.A.I.S.Y began to form, it became clear they were based on the principles of mindfulness, reflective practice and positive psychology that had sustained me as I recovered and healed from difficult relationships and life events, as well as what I had learned in my training in a variety of mental health, wellbeing and healing modalities.

Using D.A.I.S.Y as a tool in my own daily practice, gave me an understanding of how versatile this tool could be. It is as powerful for a quick daily check-in as it is for examining deeper life challenges, whether current or historical.

Clients responded positively to it, and I started using it in my mindfulness classes.

D.A.I.S.Y is now central to The Daisy Garden Community – the daily emails, the weekly D.A.I.S.Y Power Hour and a monthly Masterclass.

I invite you to read on to see how five simple principles can transform the way you relate to yourself, your choices, and your life.

Warm wishes

T.I.M.E. - Time, Ideas, Means, Energy

The ‘Dedicate’ pillar asks you to be intentional with these four core resources.

Every choice you make is either bringing you closer to the life you want, or further away.

You begin by mindfully choosing where your resources are dedicated.

When you ‘Mind your T.I.M.E’ you are ‘mindful’ of how you dedicate it.

‘Where thought goes, energy flows’

‘What you focus on grows’

🌼T — Time

Time is your most valuable non-renewable resource. What you dedicate it to is a direct reflection of what you are prioritising, consciously or otherwise.

› How are you dedicating time to activities that genuinely support, nurture, and energise you?

› What daily habits align with the life you truly want?

› Where could you manage your time to reflect your true priorities?

🌼I — Ideas

The thoughts and beliefs you entertain shape your reality more than almost anything else. Your mindset and inner narrative, what you tell yourself about who you are and what's possible, is either your greatest ally or your most persistent obstacle.

› What ideas and thoughts are you giving the most energy to right now?

›What kind of mindset will support, nurture, and energise you?

› What would it mean to cultivate a mindset that genuinely supports your highest potential?

🌼M — Means

Your means are all the resources available to you, tangible and intangible. Money, knowledge, tools, personal networks, past experiences, spirit guides, sacred objects, media. Anything can be a resource when you learn to see it as one.

› How are you currently dedicating your resources in ways that support, nurture and energise you?

› How do you invest in your own personal and spiritual development?

› What resources do you have available that you haven't yet fully utilised?

🌼E — Energy

Energy exists on every level - physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual. How you manage and protect your energy determines your capacity to thrive. This is not about doing more. It's about making sure that what you give out is sustainably replenished.

› What activities and practices genuinely support, nurture, and energise you?

› What helps you keep your personal energy sovereign?

› How can you be more mindful about how you manage your energy?

A - Appreciate - Practice Gratitude

Gratitude shifts your mindset from lack to abundance. When you appreciate what you have, you invite more into your life. Daily gratitude practices help you recognize the beauty and blessings in each moment. ‘Radical gratitude’ is the practice of being grateful for the challenges you face. By seeking out silver linings, you can reframe experience from '“it happened to me” to “ it happened for me” leaning into learning, wisdom and growth.

Inquiry:

What is something small but meaningful that you can appreciate right now?

How do you express gratitude in your daily life?

When was the last time you truly paused to acknowledge the good around you?

🌼

I - Intuition - Listen to your soul.

Your intuition is your inner compass, guiding you toward what feels right and true. Learning to trust yourself and tune in to your inner wisdom brings clarity and confidence.

What does your gut instinct tell you about a current situation in your life?

How do you know when you're listening to your intuition versus your fears?

What practices help you connect with your inner wisdom?

🌼

S - Show up - Be true to you.

Authenticity is your superpower. Showing up as your true self means embracing who you are, standing in your truth, and letting go of the need to fit in. This is how you attract the right people and opportunities. Showing up authentically also means becoming discerning, noticing who and what you allow into your space, and whether those relationships reflect and honour who you truly are

In what areas of your life do you feel most authentic?

Where do you hold back, and what might be stopping you?

What would it feel like to show up as your truest self in all aspects of your life?

🌼

Y - Yes - Align with your values

Every decision you make is either bringing you closer to or further from alignment with your values. Saying YES to what supports, nurtures and energises you, and NO to what drains or diminishes you, is not selfish. It is how you live mindfully, stand in your truth and own your power.

› What are your core values, and how clearly are they guiding your choices right now?

› What are you saying yes to that is costing you, and what would a wholehearted yes actually feel like?

› Where could saying no be the most powerful act of self-respect you make today?
